A Scottish Financial services firm, Alliance is set to become one of the countries largest Sipps pension providers after acquiring pension trustees, Wolanski & Co. The new deal, no purchase figures have been released, turns Alliance into a top five Sipps Pension provider instantly. Interest and take up of Self-Invested Pension Plans is expected to rocket next year as the Government changes the rules on Pension investment in the UK. The new changes will result in a wider range of assets that will be allowed to be held in a personal pension fund. There are concerns within the industry that the changes will mean even more mis-selling problems as the industry tries to adjust to the new regulations. A couple of the larger companies such as Norwich Union and Standard Life are trying to convince the Government that greater regulation is need and the first step towards this could be a set of regulations that cover the use of advertising. Alliance Trust that operates out of Dundee will take control of Wolanskis SSAS pensions and all of its Sipps pension admin business. Wolanski has around 50 staff that are based in London and these people will be joining the Alliance payroll. Alan Harden who is the Chief Executive at Alliance is quoted as saying This deal is a first step towards our aim of becoming the country's foremost SIPP provider |
